Why Rosarito Beach and Northern Baja

There are several reasons why now is the time to buy in northern baja, and specifically Rosarito Beach.  The reality is the last two years have been anything but boring in Mexico.  The war on drugs, one that we have had here in the states but on a different scale, has been overwhelmingly successful.  The border is getting cleaned up and there is a process to this cleanup that has experienced a very positive turning point.  The government, with the help of U.S. troops and intel, have taken out massive drug factions in the thousands and implemented new police and new security measures to make Rosarito the safest it has been in 50 years!  The new police have brought in a wave of pro-tourist thinking that makes the days of bribing a police man long gone.  The shakedown has been replaced with helpful tourista police that point you in the right direction when lost.  The security checkpoints offer another layer of security that was a welcomed addition to the area.  On the other side of this cleanup is expanding tourism, increased property values and just an all around more enjoyable place to live and play!

New shops, a massive outdoor mall complex, a home depot and Super Walmart are all signs of the expansion going on in Rosarito.  This brings the creature comforts of American living to a low cost lifestyle in Rosarito.  Take a quick 45 minute ride down towards Ensenada and find a bustling town with a fun downtown area and great shopping.  Visit one of the world’s biggest shooting geysers and then spend a day in wine country with guided wine tasting tours and incredible vineyards in one of the world’s up and coming wine growing regions.  Some of the best restaurants in Mexico are in this quiet little region called Northern Baja.

The best part of living in Rosarito is that there are people just like you all over the place.  Nearly 10% of Rosarito is made up of full time ex-pats, Americans that come to Rosarito for the lower cost of living, easy lifestyle, nightlife and exciting activities.  Yet a quick 40 minute drive and you are in San Diego, enjoying one of the best cities in the United States.  Ex-pats living in Rosarito get a Sentri pass which is like a fast pass to get across the border and skip the long lines.  This makes heading into San Diego for a show, a nice dinner or some shopping as easy as going to Ensenada.
